- 1) Introduction
-
- Dominoes For Windows is fun and challenging. The actual name of the game is
- called Sniff. Even if you've never heard of Sniff you probably know how
- to play the game. Sniff is the most popular Domino game of them all.
-
- Dominoes is shareware. That is to say, it's not free. Shareware
- is a means of marketing software for those of us who don't have a crack
- marketing department with a huge budget.
-
- The basic premise is that you get to try out the software before you buy it.
- Once you've tried the product, and decided it is worth the cost, you send
- in your registration fee and will receive the latest, greatest version of
- the software. This process is known as Shareware Registration.
-
- In this case the latest and greatest version has some of the annoying aspects
- of the shareware version taken out. Such as, the logo screen does not
- appear in-between ever game you play, the game loads **much** faster than
- the shareware version, and you get a free game when you register.
-
- The registration price is $19.95 plus S/H. There are three ways to register:
-
- 1) Cash, Check or Money Order
- When the program first starts click on the Cash Order
- button and fill out and print the order form. Mail the
- order form and the amount due in the form of Cash, Check
- or Money order to:
-

- Send U.S. dollars or checks drawn on U.S. banks only.
-
- 2) CompuServe's Shareware Registrstion Forum
- If you are a member of CompuServe you can use their
- Shareware Registration forum to register the software.
- GO SWREG to get to the forum. Once there follow the on
- screen instructions. Use ID# 9766
-
- 3) Credit Card Orders
- You can order with MC, Visa, Amex, or Discover from
- Public (software) Library by calling 800-242-4775, Ext 14706
- or 713-524-6394, Ext 14706. Order by FAX to 713-524-6398.
- You can also mail credit card orders to PsL at P.O.Box 35705,
- Houston, TX 77235-5705.
-

- AUTHOR OF THIS PROGRAM CANNOT BE REACHED AT THESE NUMBERS.
-
- Any questions about the status of the shipment of the order,

-
- See the Q & A section in the help file for the above registration
- informtaion along with the benifits of registering.
-
-
- 2) Installation
-
- Aside from the ZIP file DOMINO.ZIP you will need one other file to
- successfully install and run Dominoes. You will need:
-
- VBRUN300.DLL
-
- VBRUN300.DLL is the run-time module needed to run all programs written in
- the language Visual Basic. VBRUN300.DLL can be found on all on-line
- services, or you can get it off my homepage on the World Wide Web. It is
- usually stored as VBRUN3.ZIP. Once you have VBRUN300.DLL uncompress it nad
- put this file in your C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory.
-
- Installing Dominoes is pretty easy.
-
- Windows 3.1
- If you have the files on a disk in drive
- A: you would select Run from the File menu of the
- Program Manager and then type in A:\setup and hit
- the Enter key.
-
- If the files are in a directory on your hard drive
- you can Double-Click on the SETUP.EXE file from the
- File Manager.
-
- Windows 95
- If you have the files on a disk in drive
- A: you would select Run from the Start menu of the
- Windows 95 Task Bar and then type in A:\setup and hit
- the Enter key.
-
- If the files are in a directory on your hard drive
- you can Right-Click (click the right mouse button)
- on the SETUP.EXE file from the Explorer and then select
- Open from the menu that appears.
-
- File Description
- Below is a list of the files that are in the archive file
- DOMINO.ZIP. The files that end in an underscore (_) are in a
- compressed state and can not be used until they are
- uncompressed by the setup program.

- If you have Windows 95 and the setup program can't create the folders and
- icons then reboot your PC and run the setup again. When this happens the
- program is installed but the setup program was unable to establish a DDE
- link with Windows to create the Folders and Icons. You can still run the
- game by double-clicking on the file DOMINOES.EXE that was installed by the
- setup program.
-
- If the setup program fails to run after you see the "Initializing Setup"

-
- 6) What's New
-
- Version 2.2
- In this version there is a bug fix that repairs a problem that occasionally
- occured where the game would not recognize when you had played your last
- bone. This meant that you had to keep drawing from the bone pile even after
- you had played out your hand.
-
- Also, The Left, Right, Up, Down buttons now support continuous scroll. If you
- press the button and hold down the mouse the table will continue to scroll
- until you lift up on the button. Finally, you are given a little more leeway
- when dropping bones on the table. You do not need to be as exact in the
- placement of the bone when dropping inorder for the game to recognize that
- it is a valid play.
-
- Version 2.3
- Fixed an error in scoring. When a player has played all of their bones the
- remaining points in their opponents are added to their hand. Where this is
- true it is not entirly accurate. The real rule is that the remaining points
- in the opponents hand should be rounded to the nearest multiple of 5 before
- the points are added to the score.
-
- Also with scoring. When a deal ended in a draw the next deal was started
- with no peanalty points being scored for having bones left in your hand. The
- rule is that the person with the fewest remaining points will score the
- remaining points in their opponents hand, rounded to a multiple of 5.
-
- Added the menu option "Bones Played". This option will allow you to easily
- view all of the bones that have been played in the current deal.
-
- When selecting a bone from the bone pile you will be alerted if you already
- have a playable bone in your hand. Also, right-clicking on the Bone Pile
- button will tell you how many bones remain in the pile.
-
- Right-clicking on the table scroll buttons will quickly move you to one
- table end or the other.
-
- Version 2.4
- New Setup Routine and new methods of payment.
-
- Thank you,
-
- Greg
